What is the Comprehensive Plan and why is it being updated?
The City’s current comprehensive plan was adopted in 2010, and has a planning horizon out to the year 2030. The updated plan will have a planning horizon of 2040.
The Apple Valley Comprehensive Plan is used by the City to guide long-range planning, infrastructure investments, and review of development proposals. The plan provides a vision for the future of the community and establishes goals and objectives and policies. The priorities identified in the Comprehensive Plan guide city leaders in decisions about growth, city services, and city facilities.
A key component of any comprehensive planning process is public input and engagement. Watch for upcoming public input opportunities as components of the draft plan begin to emerge.
